| Elma Berrington Benny's paternal grandmother has had Benny and his mother living with her since the death of her son (Benny's dad). She does not fully understand her grandson either. She takes him to Sunday School and church each and every Sunday. By now, she thinks, he should have had a change of heart. At home he will refuse to keep his room tidy or wash dishes when required until his mother or grandmother discipline him. When he cleans his bedroom without discipline, his bedroom will appear as if it has not been cleaned. He will improperly make his bed purposely. He will leave his clothing scattered on the floor, hanging on his closet door, or anyplace else he has tossed them upon undressing for the evening. Benny's games and toys will be scattered among his clothing. If Benny's mother or grandmother look under his bed, they will find cookie crumbs scattered among toys, clothing, and other things under the bed. Among the untidyness of his room, a jar or two of dead insects may be found. Dead insects drive his mother to a scream because she does not like touching insects dead or alive, or in a jar or not. |
