Poetry by Tim
The Butterfly Poems continued

After writing the butterfly poem I wrote the first part of a four part poem about my favorite butterfly, the Monarch. They are also known as the Milkweed Butterfly. I've witnessed many landing on the milkweed and tasting the flower with its tounge.

This is part one of a four part poem I would like to make into a children's story one day. Part one was written on July 13, 1987 and four more parts were written exactly four years and one day later. I may place the other three parts on this web-site some time in the future.

Tim's song to the Monarch

None is as beautiful as thee,
oh milkweed butterfly,
all are able to see...
when You spread your wings to the sky.

Your enemies will find
You to be tasteless
and one of a kind
if in their mouths if they, you, caress.

Oh grace the sky
and fly so free
oh milkweed butterfly,
Your beauty I do see.

Let your colors, that are vibrant
oh let them flurish
for they are so excellent
In the beholder's eye one will cherish.

You are the queen
Of you flows the life
Of you royalty it is seen...
as you rise to your heights.

Touch my soul
Oh queen of butterflies.
Seeing you is as gold.
When you rise to the skies.

I reach for you, ohh
oh queen of them all
will reach for me low
When I call?...
